One of the goals for Daisy Girl Scouts is for each of the troop members to earn a daisy center and ten daisy petals.  The daisy center represents the Girl Scout Promise, while each of the petals stands for a different part of the Girl Scout Law.  The daisy center will probably be one of the very first patches that a girl in Daisies will earn.  To receive this patch, each new Girl Scout must be able to hold up her hand in a Girl Scout sign and recite the Girl Scout Promise which states:

“On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.”

The Girl Scout sign is simply holding up your three middle fingers while your thumb holds down the pinkie.  This may take a little while for the Daisies to get the hang of, but it shouldn't take too long.

It is a good idea to do a craft project that will help your Daisies to memorize the Girl Scout Promise.  One idea is to either print out a copy of the promise for each of the girls or have them write it down.  They may then glue this paper down onto a piece of craft foam.  Next, a magnet can be placed on back of the foam.  The Daisy can take her craft home to put on the refrigerator so she can practice reciting the promise anytime she wants.

Another craft project would be to take a paper with the Girl Scout Promise on it and glue it to a plain piece of craft foam that is in the shape of a door knob hanger.  That way they can hang this on their bedroom so the girls can practice saying the promise every time they go into their room.

Lastly, the girls could make a Girl Scout Promise Booklet.  They should be provided with a paper that has the promise printed on it and some white paper or construction paper that has been stapled together.  Each line should be cut apart and then pasted on a separate page of the booklet.  The Daisies will then either draw a picture or write something on each page about what that specific line of the promise means to them.

These are just a few suggestions for craft projects that you can do with your Daisies to help them memorize the Girl Scout Promise so they can earn the daisy center for their uniform.  It is also important to make sure and recite the promise at every Girl Scout troop meeting.
